This is a Pro Piggy household!

In actuality Piggy felt like the first to show weakness and thus became the first victim in the story so I feel especially inclined to empathize with him. Ralph’s immediate betrayal felt like a Cain and Abel moment (two brothers is insolation on an unidentifiable island threatened by a third figure) with how quickly he killed Piggy’s chance of reinventing himself on the island. Okay cool…so what right? Well it matters because this initial act foreshadows how the story portrays their relationship. Piggy with his usual childish want for acceptance hangs around him and the group constantly despite their maneuvering. Piggy is like a moral rock in their shoe that they don’t want to entertain too often, if not just to use as a frustration punching bag. Ralph pays attention though, this is in part, why he last so long in my opinion. Ralph didn’t succumb into savagery sooner. Piggy wouldn’t allow it. Just as he was insistent to the children about the rules of the conch. For he knew all too well the importance of rules and order and what lack there of would result for him…overall an epic tale of the battle between societal expectations, the fight against humanity, and the loss of childhood innocence in a post WWII world.
